TASMANIAN DEVILS

Felt I needed to do another example of a book cover to beef up my portfolio. The book is set in 1857 and follows a variety of characters including three Englishman setting sail to Tasmania to find The Garden of Eden, a crooked Captain, and a Tasmanian native who has suffered at the hands of colonialism.

ONE FOR THE ROAD

I was asked by the lovely people at End of the Road to design a special poster to celebrate their five year anniversary. The festival is well known to include Peacocks roaming the grounds during the festival and it seemed to fit nicely with the proud nature of the project, so I just went with it. It has a list at the bottom of loads of the bands that have played there in previous years or are playing this September. One hell of a cast if you ask me.

SHELF LIFE

My bookshelf. I really do love my books.

MINDING MY OWN BUSINESS

I actually had these new business cards made up a couple of months ago but I've just bought myself a lovely new camera and wanted to photograph something...so here they are.

CHILDS PLAY

This is a banner for the top of the page of New York Times' Children's Book Reviews. It was an amazingly fun project. Draw some text with child-related imagery around it. Bliss.

MAKE LIGHT WORK

This is a logo for E.T.C. (Education Training Consultancy Ltd.), my father's company. Did it as a favour but quite liked the outcome.

UNTHANKS A LOT

Having recently met the organisers of End of the Road (the guys who do the festival and release records and put on shows and all that jazz), Simon gave me the task of creating a poster for an Unthanks gig with David Thomas Broughton at Union Chapel. It has now also appeared in Word magazine and Uncut. If you fancy going to the event, check out the information on the poster.

ROPED IN

I've recently helped Joseph Brett and the guys at End of the Road in the making of this awesome video for Efterklang's new single 'I Was Playing Drums'. I helped out with some of the creative process and even helped Joseph with a bit of editing. I love the finished product and am very proud of Joe for getting his little baby conceived, filmed and out in the world within such a short space of time. Enjoy!

CENTS & SENSIBILITY

Last week I did a bit of self-promotion and got an editorial job for the New York Times. It was for a book review of Jane's Fame: How Jane Austen Conquered the World. This image basically refers to the author's notion that Austen was '...a writer consciously crafting and controlling her creative persona'.
